In ~1992 the TR was involved in an accident, causing damage to the front valance and bonnet. Since the other guys insurance was paying out, this looked like and excuse for a complete repaint! This was also the first time I rebuilt the bottom end of the engine, fitting new bearings but leaving the pistons alone (they seemed to be working fine). The camshaft was also replaced as it was showing some wear on a couple of lobes.
I used the workshop of Kerry Langley, a guy i’d got to know thru other car nerds. As you can see there was enough space…but it was always cluttered with cars… Paint this time was a 2-pack system which is easier to paint and easier to maintain
Since I hadnt taken many pictures the first time we painted the car, it was good to get a few this time.
There’s a MkII jag just on the right here… where did that go??
Of course, by now I knew the car very well, so assembly was easy…I knew every piece by touch. In fact, my local TR group ran a competition called a “grope”…. Car parts were placed in black plastic bags. Contestants score 1 point for identifying the part, 2 points for knowing what car it’s off, and 3 points for knowing the part number….
