I
was lucky enough to spend a year or so working in Switzerland.
I used the TR for summer transport a swapped to a trusty
bright orange BMW
2002 for the winter. The biggest problem i had with
the car was dynamo failure, but even that was survivable
as old lucas dynamos are one of the few car parts you
could buy from a Swiss Rover dealer in the mid 90s...
Another interesting
fault was complete electrical failure, which normally
happened on french autoroutes at night. At about 70mph
all lights would go out, ignition stopped and overdrive
would drop out....very disconcerting for both me &
other motorists. Driving over bumps whilst slowing down
would fix it. The root cause was finally identified as
the live feed to the floor-mounted dipswitch shorting
to earth (thats one of the many unfused circuits on a
TR4A...)
Carrying Beer is just one use of a TR, a washing machine is more of a struggle, and a second engine (in the boot, with spare wheel removed) seems to affect the handling.
